What an 8 Does Well
An 8-inch subwoofer won't match a 12 for sheer output, but it does two things better: it fits where nothing else will, and it delivers tight, fast, accurate bass that suits rock, metal and sound-quality builds. In a truck cab or under a seat, an 8 is often the only realistic option — and far better than no subwoofer at all.
Getting the Most From It
Small drivers need their power clean rather than plentiful. Match a monoblock amplifier to the RMS rating, set the gain properly using our tuning guide, and add sound deadening to the surrounding panels — rattle robs a small sub of what little output it has.
