Shop 6x9 speakers at JS Ultimate Sounds — the biggest speaker that fits most factory door and rear-deck openings, and one of the easiest upgrades you can make to a stock system.
Why 6x9 Speakers Hit Harder
A 6x9 has noticeably more cone area than a 6.5" round, which means more midbass output from the same amplifier power. In rear decks and truck doors, that extra surface area is what makes a system feel full instead of thin.
Coaxial vs Pro Audio 6x9s
- Coaxial 6x9s (woofer plus built-in tweeter) are the plug-and-play choice for a full-range upgrade in one speaker per location.
- Pro audio 6x9s are high-sensitivity midrange drivers built to play loud alongside serious bass — they need separate tweeters for the top end. This is the street-bass lane.
Fitment & Mounting
Not every vehicle has a 6x9 opening, and some 6x9 locations need a spacer or adapter for depth. If your doors are 6.5" and you want more cone area, vehicle-specific speaker pods let you mount larger drivers without cutting. Adapters are available to run 6.5" speakers in a factory 6x9 hole as well.
Power Them Properly
Head-unit power is why most upgraded speakers "sound the same" — run 6x9s off a dedicated 4-channel amplifier, high-pass them around 80–100Hz (our amp tuning guide shows how), and deaden the panel behind them with sound deadening.
