Why UTV Electrical Needs Attention
Powersports vehicles ship with small charging systems sized for ignition and lights — not for amplifiers. Add a sound system and you hit two problems at once: not enough charging output while riding, and no charging at all when you're parked at camp with the music on. A dedicated audio battery, isolated from the starting battery, solves the second and buys headroom on the first.
AGM or Lithium?
- AGM — sealed, spill-proof, vibration-tolerant and mountable in any orientation. The dependable default, and cheaper.
- Lithium (LiFePO4) — dramatically lighter with more usable capacity, which matters on a machine where every pound counts. Generally needs a DC-DC charger rather than charging directly off the stator.
