Shop 6.5 speakers at JS Ultimate Sounds — the most common speaker size in car audio and the single best upgrade you can make to a factory front stage. Coaxials, component sets and high-output pro-audio midrange, all in 6.5".
Coaxial, Component or Pro Audio?
- Coaxial 6.5" speakers — woofer and tweeter in one unit. Simple drop-in replacement, full-range sound, one speaker per door.
- Component sets — separate woofer, tweeter and crossover. Better imaging because the tweeter mounts up high near ear level.
- Pro audio 6.5" midrange — high-sensitivity drivers built to play loud over serious bass. They need separate tweeters, and they're what street-bass builds run.
How to Pick
If your subs drown out your music, you want pro audio or high-power components. If you want balanced daily sound, coaxials or a component set will do it. Either way, match the speaker's RMS rating to your amplifier — our best 6.5" speakers for bass guide breaks down specific picks by budget and use.
Three Things That Decide How They Sound
- Amplifier power. Head-unit power is the #1 reason upgraded speakers disappoint. Run them off a 4-channel amp.
- High-pass filter. Set it around 80–100Hz so 6.5s aren't wasting power on bass they can't produce — see the tuning guide.
- Door treatment. A rattling door panel eats midbass. One layer of sound deadening per door is the cheapest upgrade here.
