Three thousand watts for $229. That's the Taramps Bass 3K pitch, and it's the reason this compact Brazilian monoblock shows up in so many budget bass builds. The number is real — but it comes with conditions. Here's our honest Bass 3K review, including exactly what it takes to get those watts.

| Power @ 2 ohms | 1,920W RMS |

| Controls | Variable LPF (60–250Hz), variable subsonic (8–30Hz), bass boost |

The two catches (read before buying)
- The rating is at 1 ohm and 14.4 volts. Wire your subs to 2 ohms and you get 1,920W — still strong, but plan your coil configuration before you order. And that 14.4V matters: at 12.5V resting voltage the output drops meaningfully. This amp can pull 260 amps at full tilt — a stock electrical system will sag, clip, and choke it. Budget the big 3 wiring upgrade minimum; see our battery guide for what a build this size wants.
- It's bass-only. The 8–250Hz response means this is a dedicated subwoofer amp, full stop — which is exactly why it's efficient at its price.
What we like
- Watts per dollar is unmatched at $229 — the nearest comparable power tier typically starts $100+ higher.
- Genuinely compact: at 9.4" long and 6.5 lbs it fits where old-school 3kW amps never did.
- Real protection circuitry: short-circuit, impedance, voltage, and thermal protection — Taramps amps survive abuse that kills cheaper no-name boards.
- Proper subsonic filter down to 8Hz — set it just below your ported box tuning (our tuning guide shows how).
Best subwoofer pairings
The Bass 3K wants a sub (or pair) that presents a 1-ohm load at ~2,500–3,000W combined RMS: a single high-handling 12 or 15, or a pair of 1,500W subs like the American Bass XFL 12s or Sundown SA v.3 12s wired to 1 ohm. Our install guide covers the coil wiring.
Bass 3K vs Down4Sound JP23
The natural cross-shop: the JP23 V2 (2,800W, $399.99) costs more but carries the D4S ecosystem and dyno pedigree; the Bass 3K delivers more paper watts for $170 less with Taramps' strict 1-ohm/voltage requirements. Confident about your electrical and wiring? The Taramps is the value play. Want more forgiveness and accessories? JP23.
Verdict
The Bass 3K is exactly what it looks like: the cheapest legitimate path to 3kW of bass — if you hold up your end with a 1-ohm load and healthy voltage. It's the amp we point to when someone says "maximum bass, minimum budget, and I understand ohms."
