Walk any car audio competition lane and count the battery logos: XS Power is everywhere. But does the reputation hold up for a daily build, and which of their three battery technologies should you actually buy? Here's our honest review as a dealer that stocks and ships XS Power daily.
Who is XS Power?
XS Power is an American battery brand that built its name specifically in high-performance and car audio applications — not a general automotive battery maker that added an audio sticker. Their catalog spans three technologies, and understanding the split is the whole buying decision.
The three XS Power lines
| Line | Technology | Price range | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| AGM (D/XP/PSX series) | Absorbed glass mat | $90–$400 | Systems to ~3,000W, starting duty |
| Lithium (Li/US series) | LiFePO4-class lithium | $500–$1,000+ | 3,000–5,000W daily builds |
| Titan8 (PWR/RSV series) | Lithium titanate (LTO), 12/14/16V | $500–$1,000 per unit | Competition, 5,000W+ banks |
Are they actually good? Our experience
Yes — XS Power is the low-risk choice in a category full of junk. The battery market is flooded with relabeled cells and fantasy amp-hour ratings; XS Power's ratings have been consistent across the years we've sold them, warranty support is real, and the Titan8 LTO line in particular has become the de facto competition standard because it simply doesn't sag under brutal current draw. The trade-off is price: you can find cheaper lithium online. You can't find cheaper lithium with this track record.
Which XS Power battery should you buy?
- Budget voltage support (to ~2,000W): XP600 AGM — $89.99. The classic first supplemental battery.
- Under-hood upgrade: PSX14L Group 14L AGM — $129.99. Helps audio and starting.
- Big daily lithium: US1100-31 — $999.99. Group 31 lithium for 3,000W+ systems.
- Competition LTO: Titan8 PWR-S6-30Q 14V ($799.99), RSV-S6-30Q 14V ($869.99), or RSV-S7-30 16V ($999.99). Check your amps are rated for 14/16V before ordering — high-voltage banks are for systems designed around them.
The honest caveats
- A battery is not an alternator. Banks buy headroom between bass hits; sustained output needs charging to match. Past ~3,500W daily, plan a high-output alternator too.
- Chemistry mixing needs isolation. Don't parallel lithium with your lead-acid starter battery without proper isolation — our second battery guide covers safe wiring.
- Voltage matters more than brand. The best battery through undersized wire is wasted — big 3 and true-gauge runs first.
Verdict
XS Power earns its lane-domination: honest ratings, three genuinely different technologies for three budgets, and the Titan8 line at the top of the LTO food chain.
