The Sundown X-8 v.3 is one of the most popular 8″ subwoofers Sundown has ever produced, building on the v1 and v2 and improving on both. The key is its FEA-optimized spider and surround, paired with the custom-tooled 8″ frame that represents the maximum performance possible on that platform. The motor and coil deliver roughly 19mm of one-way linear Xmax — about 2.4″ peak-to-peak before the coil leaves the gap — and an aluminum magnet-ID shorting ring reduces inductive distortion. The 800-watt RMS rating is quite conservative. Available in D2 and D4, it’s right at home in small sealed or ported enclosures.
