The U Series is Sundown's premier standard-suspension woofer, and the v.2 12" handles 2000 watts RMS / 4000 watts peak. It is driven by a double-stacked 9.4-inch ferrite motor coupled to a thick top plate, with shorting rings inside the magnets and on the pole cap and an extended pole piece to keep the coil under control under high stress. Coil temperature is managed by a high-velocity solid pole with machined channels and 16 direct air-gap vents in the back plate. The aluminum 3" former and high-temperature copper coil sit in a custom, substantially thicker cast-aluminum frame with heat dissipation ribs, optimized for small ported or bandpass enclosures.
