Shop amp wiring kits at JS Ultimate Sounds — complete amplifier wiring kits with power wire, ground, fuse holder, RCA cables and remote lead in one box. The wiring kit is the most under-bought part of any system, and it's the most common reason an amplifier never makes its rated power.
Choosing the Right Amplifier Wiring Kit
Size the kit to your amplifier's current draw, not its advertised wattage. General guidance:
- 8 gauge — small 4-channels and systems under roughly 500W
- 4 gauge — the workhorse size for most single-amp builds up to about 1,500W
- 1/0 gauge — high-power monoblocks, multi-amp racks, and anything past ~2,000W
Our car audio wire gauge chart gives exact sizing by amperage and run length.
OFC vs CCA
OFC (oxygen-free copper) carries meaningfully more current than CCA (copper-clad aluminum) at the same gauge. CCA kits are fine for modest builds on a budget; once you're feeding a real monoblock, OFC — or one gauge larger in CCA — is the honest choice. Either way, buy true gauge: undersized wire sold as 4-gauge is common online.
Don't Forget the Big 3
A wiring kit feeds the amp; the Big 3 upgrade feeds the whole electrical system. On any build over ~1,500W, do both — and add a second battery when voltage starts to sag.
Complete Your Install
Pair your kit with power & ground wire, speaker wire, and terminals and lugs by the foot. Then follow our subwoofer install guide for fuse placement, grounding and routing. Questions on gauge? Message us with your amp model and we'll tell you exactly what it needs.
