Shop speaker wire for car audio at JS Ultimate Sounds — OFC and CCA speaker wire by the foot and by the spool, in the gauges that actually matter for door speakers, pro-audio mids and subwoofers.
What Gauge Speaker Wire Do You Need?
- 16 gauge — factory-replacement door speakers and tweeters on modest power
- 14 gauge — the sweet spot for amplified door speakers and component sets
- 12 gauge — pro-audio midrange, horns, and long runs
- 10 gauge and larger — subwoofers, especially at low impedance or long runs to the trunk
Longer runs and lower impedance both call for thicker wire. Our car audio wire gauge chart gives exact sizing by power and distance.
OFC vs CCA Speaker Wire
OFC (oxygen-free copper) carries more current per gauge and resists corrosion better; CCA (copper-clad aluminum) costs less and works fine on lower-power runs. The practical rule: if you're feeding real amplifier power to subs or pro audio, buy OFC — or step up one full gauge in CCA.
Complete the Install
Speaker wire is one piece of the chain. Pair it with a true-gauge amp wiring kit, power & ground wire, and terminals and lugs for clean, low-resistance connections. Running new speakers at the same time? See our 6.5" speaker guide and add sound deadening while the door panels are off.
Not sure what gauge your build needs? Message us with your amp and run length and we'll tell you exactly what to order.
